The hugely popular movie series, Alien vs Predator, also known as AVP or Aliens vs. Predator, is a crossover from the Alien movie series and the Predator movies. These movies were initially based on Dark Horse comics, which were then adapted for the big screen. The movies had a huge fan following and AVP costumes, collectibles, action figures, toys & games which were quite popular.
AVP was followed by AVP 2 – Requiem, which continued on the ending of the 1st Alien vs Predator movie which ended with an Alien chest burster coming out from the body of a dead Predator. There was always talk of a 3rd AVP movie, but was never produced. Maybe after the success of the recently released Predators movie, fans would hope that AVP3 would finally be produced.
According to an online horror news website, Aliens vs Predator 3 will indeed be made. Apparently, Fox studios supposedly said that AVP3 will definitely be made, and will be directed by the same brothers Strause, who also directed AVP2. In AVP 3, the story would continue in space.
An interesting suggestion for AVP3 by a fan proposed that the story continue after Alien Resurrection 3, where the humans go back to the Alien home world. Along the way, the humans would encounter the Space Jockeys and Predators. This would tie-up all the AVP, Predators & Aliens franchise together and serve as the basis for a new Alien vs Predator trilogy of movies.
Despite the mixed reviews for the AVP movies, there is enough of a fan base for the AVP, Aliens & Predators movies to actually petition 20th Century Fox and Director David Twohy to consider creating an AVP3 movie. The fans actually created an online petition to ask that the 3rd movie in the popular Alien vs Predator movie series to request that the plot of Alien vs Predator 3 take place in a futuristic space setting. The fans also felt that Director David Twohy would be the ideal person to direct Alien vs Predator 3 given his work in cult hit movies such as ‘Pitch Black‘ and ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’. Whether or not 20th Century Fox studios and David Twohy are agreeable to Alien vs Predator 3 remains to be seen.
